Meet Alison

For me, art and photography have been my lifelong loves.  It started with pencils and markers at my Grandma's desk,  filling notebook after notebook with drawings.  From there it moved on to watercolor, acrylics and taking every art class my high school counselor would let me.

I got my first camera for Christmas in sixth grade.  I took pictures of mountains on our vacations, flowers, my brother....you name it.  I loved capturing the moments, the colors and the light.

As I got older I would pour over art and photography books.  At first admiring others work and then later studying their techniques so that I could create the visions bursting in my head.

Fast forward to 2005 and starting my own photography business. I am now blessed to be putting my love for art and photography into creating memorable portraits for my clients and their families.  My style is simple, no fuss, no props.  Only great locations and natural light, capturing my subjects in creative, memorable portraits.

ready, set…go!

That is how it went with this little one.  She couldn’t wait to hit the ground running….well, walking anyway.  She had me moving the entire time we were taking pictures.  So happy, curious and content.  We found all kinds of things along the way.  Pinecones, dirt, a few sticks.  The fact that we were there to take a few pictures didn’t slow her down one bit.  And to me that is exactly how it should be…

Sessions are booking for the fall, especially weekends.  If you have a date in mind don’t wait…it might be gone.  ;)

as promised…

So here are a few more from the session I did a short preview of the other day.  It was a hot, humid afternoon when I met up with these 3 girls and their mama for pictures.  We managed to find a few shady spots to stay cool…and get a few pictures along the way.

When the mama of these girls called to schedule her session she warned me that her little one was always on the go.  She was right!  This baby girl walked all over exploring and following her sisters.  She was so happy and content.  Each time I would take her picture she would make a “click, click” sound, just like the camera.

I hope you are all enjoying the AMAZING weather we’ve had the past couple of days!  I know I am.  ;)

just a couple for today…

Catching up from a busy weekend and looking ahead to a busy week.  It seems not only have we jumped back into our school routine, but a busy fall schedule as well.  It is fun and a bit crazy…my favorite time of year.

I had a lovely session last week with 3 sisters at Elmwood Park.  As I got started working on their session this morning I could just not resist sharing a couple of the pictures. A darling girl with freckles sprinkled across her nose and cheeks just perfectly.  More to come from this session in the next day or two…

music

I have had these pictures in my “to be blogged” file for a few weeks now.   The summer days got away from me and so I am finally just getting to share these pictures.  This is another one of the seniors I have had the opportunity to meet and photograph.  This young man has a true love for music.  You can hear it in his voice when he talks about it, you can see it in the way he plays his guitar.  He has big plans and even bigger dreams and is working hard to make them all come true.  It’s inspiring to meet someone like that…someone who knows what they want and goes after it with everything they’ve got.

We went down to the Old Market for our session.  As we got out of our cars to meet and get started I looked up and realized we were standing in front of Homer’s Records.  A window full of album covers seemed the perfect place to photograph a young man that loves music so much.   After finding such a great place to start I wasn’t sure we could top it…but we did.  The Old Market is always full of great treasures to photograph.

Have a great weekend!
