Meet Alison

For me, art and photography have been my lifelong loves.  It started with pencils and markers at my Grandma's desk,  filling notebook after notebook with drawings.  From there it moved on to watercolor, acrylics and taking every art class my high school counselor would let me.

I got my first camera for Christmas in sixth grade.  I took pictures of mountains on our vacations, flowers, my brother....you name it.  I loved capturing the moments, the colors and the light.

As I got older I would pour over art and photography books.  At first admiring others work and then later studying their techniques so that I could create the visions bursting in my head.

Fast forward to 2005 and starting my own photography business. I am now blessed to be putting my love for art and photography into creating memorable portraits for my clients and their families.  My style is simple, no fuss, no props.  Only great locations and natural light, capturing my subjects in creative, memorable portraits.

isn’t she beautiful?

Each time I photograph a newborn I am taken back to the days when my boys were babies.  I think of the sweet smell, the way they would move and stretch, the journey of getting to know them.  Watching this mama with her baby yesterday she was so calm and loving with her first child. At only 6 days old she already knows how to swaddle her just right and what brings her comfort.  You could just see this sweet baby girl respond when her mama spoke to her.  They are off to a great start.

We had a wonderful time together yesterday afternoon talking photography (check out mama’s blog here) and babies.

We were almost done when she flashed us this perfect little smile.  I’d say she’s well on her way to being the perfect photographer’s child…  ;)

Have a great weekend!

baby girl

What can I say?  This baby girl was so sleepy…we changed her clothes, repositioned her a few times and still she just snoozed away.  I’m hoping for her mama’s sake she sleeps just as well tonight.  ;)

oh, the fun we had!

I spent the morning with this sweet baby, his mama and little sister.  It was so fun!  Baby could not have been easier.  His mama got his tummy full and swaddled him tight and that was all it took.  I have soooo many pictures I love from this session I couldn’t wait to dive into them.

There are more to share, but here are just a few to get started…

Yes, he is on a bookshelf, but mama is very close by.  ;)

With this lovely session and a sky full of sunshine it’s looking to be a pretty good day!

bright eyes

I photographed this sweet, very content baby girl yesterday.  She is 9 days old, but she was in no way a typical, sleepy newborn.  Her bright eyes were open for our whole 2 hour session.  Sure we tried all the usual tricks…a full tummy, a warm blanket, snuggling with mom.  Nope, not interested in dozing off.  Clearly there was too much she would miss.  ;)

I think my favorite moment of our time together was when her sweet 4 year old brother came over to talk to her.  Her whole expression changed as she heard his voice.  If a newborn can have a look of love and admiration, she had it.  Oh, what a precious love siblings share!

Have a great weekend!  Enjoy this beautiful sunny day!
