I know, I know. I say I don’t do weddings and that’s exactly what my last 2 of 3 posts have been.

Hmmm….

Let’s just say this bride had me at sunflowers. I got an email from this bride a few months ago asking me to photograph their wedding. She described the gorgeous pasture where they would say their vows, the cowboy boots, the hay bales for the guests, the sunflower bouquets. I think it took my a whole 15 minutes to make up my mind and say, ‘yes’.

In my head, I could just see the beauty, that this bride had described. What I didn’t know was how much better it would be in person. Green and brown rolling hills dotted with yellow and purple wildflowers, canyons, cattle roaming in pastures. Wild turkeys and pheasants by the roadside. Two amazing families and countless friends brought together by two people, all because of love.

Although you always hope for sunshine with an outdoor wedding the heavy, gray sky and fog seemed to compliment the quiet of our surroundings, the rugged beauty of it’s colors became more vivid. The focus turned to the beauty of the couple, no competition from a blazing sunset or a blue sky.

It couldn’t have been more perfect.

He could not have been more fun. I think he’ll fit in perfectly.

On an entirely different note….

Fall sessions are filling quickly. Weekends for September and October are full, but there are some week days, afternoons and evenings still available.

I have always said that I would not photograph weddings. So, I guess this is a lesson in ‘never say never’.

When this bride called to ask me about photographing her wedding day she told me about their plans…a simple wedding in the country with close family and friends. She told me about how her children would be part of the day and that they wanted pictures of their new family coming together on this special day. It sounded more like a family session than a wedding. How could I say no?

They had a beautiful afternoon for their ceremony. Nestled under a big tree in the country, it looked like it was created just for a wedding. It was a beautiful, simple service with acoustic guitar that floated on the occasional breeze. Some of the most precious moments of the day came from the children, their comments and wonder on such a meaningful and beautiful day.

Not only did I say yes to this wedding, but a second that is coming up next month. It’s a country wedding too…can’t wait!

A quick share for this evening. I know it has been quite over here the past few months. It’s not for lack of busy-ness. Believe me. I’ve got many sessions to share and catch up on. It’s just a matter of time. Isn’t it always?
