Meet Alison

For me, art and photography have been my lifelong loves.  It started with pencils and markers at my Grandma's desk,  filling notebook after notebook with drawings.  From there it moved on to watercolor, acrylics and taking every art class my high school counselor would let me.

I got my first camera for Christmas in sixth grade.  I took pictures of mountains on our vacations, flowers, my brother....you name it.  I loved capturing the moments, the colors and the light.

As I got older I would pour over art and photography books.  At first admiring others work and then later studying their techniques so that I could create the visions bursting in my head.

Fast forward to 2005 and starting my own photography business. I am now blessed to be putting my love for art and photography into creating memorable portraits for my clients and their families.  My style is simple, no fuss, no props.  Only great locations and natural light, capturing my subjects in creative, memorable portraits.

senior session

I recently had the opportunity to travel out of town for this senior’s session.  They had great locations chosen…including their beautiful backyard!  The highlight of the day was getting onto the football field at the local college — what luck!  I had so many favorites from our afternoon it was hard to narrow down just a few.

Enjoy!

taking a break

It’s been busy around here, but tis the season for photographers and I am loving it.  Yesterday I took a break and snapped a few of Anna.  She loves to be loved.  Matter of fact, you approach her for petting and she sits down and falls over backward, all in the name of a good tummy rub.

Here she is, true to form, everytime I tried to get her sitting for a picture she’d fall over, begging for a little rub.  I love my funny dog.

Now I’m no dog photographer, but Erin Vey is, in fact she’s my favorite.  She’s holding a contest over at her site.  Check out her work and her contest.  She’s amazing!

Click here for the contest link.

flashback

Nothing too exciting to post today, so you get a little of this and that…

I know Sugarland has a more recent version of this song out, but I have to say the original is still my favorite.  Even if this video is crazy ’80s the song is still good.

Dream Academy — “Life in a Northern Town”

Many, many memories from high school driving around with this on the radio/mixed tape (oh man, tapes?) selection.  I think I may have just dated myself…

The famous Red Racers (ok, so they are famous around our house) are getting too small for Henry.  I am a little sad about this as they are my (Henry’s too) favorite shoes.  They perfectly fit his personality and I hate to see him done with them, probably one of those mom moments.  Usually I am somewhat immune to that sentimentality, but not where these little shoes are concerned.  I may have to start looking for their replacement…
