Meet Alison

For me, art and photography have been my lifelong loves.  It started with pencils and markers at my Grandma's desk,  filling notebook after notebook with drawings.  From there it moved on to watercolor, acrylics and taking every art class my high school counselor would let me.

I got my first camera for Christmas in sixth grade.  I took pictures of mountains on our vacations, flowers, my brother....you name it.  I loved capturing the moments, the colors and the light.

As I got older I would pour over art and photography books.  At first admiring others work and then later studying their techniques so that I could create the visions bursting in my head.

Fast forward to 2005 and starting my own photography business. I am now blessed to be putting my love for art and photography into creating memorable portraits for my clients and their families.  My style is simple, no fuss, no props.  Only great locations and natural light, capturing my subjects in creative, memorable portraits.

birthday girl

This little one is celebrating her first birthday — today!

And a birthday on Halloween would not be complete without a great little princess costume.  So cute!

Have a fun Halloween and a great weekend!

another senior session

For this senior’s session we went to Elmwood Park, a familiar place for many photographers.  What was great about this session was that while walking around the light was so great that we were able to try some new areas in the park.  The fall colors there are beautiful right now and we had a great evening for pictures.

windy city

Just time for one quick post today…

I spent some time with this lovely lady over the weekend.  For a few years now her mom (that lives in Calgary by the way) has been asking her to get professional pictures taken.  Well, she finally gave in and decided to get it done.  We went down to the Old Market area on a blustery afternoon, but managed to find a few places where she wouldn’t get the “wind blown” look.  :)  She brought some great clothes, including some killer red heels and the great hat you see here.

Have a great Tuesday!

big brother

A few to share from another recent session.  I enjoyed this family very much.  The kids were wonderful as we walked around taking pictures and finding trees to climb and sticks to carry.  What struck me most was how kind and protective big brother was to his baby sister.  If she was falling behind as we walked he would go back to walk with her, call her to see what new treasure he had discovered, or give her a kiss on the cheek for no reason at all.  What a lucky girl she is to have such a loving big brother.
